Martin’s Fantasy Island will introduce a new ride and an upgraded version of an existing ride as it prepares for its 2015 season.
The $1 million expansion of the Grand Island amusement park will add the Rock ‘n Roll Musik Express and will replace its Jack & the Beanstalk ride in Kiddieland with a new version.
The Rock ’n’ Roll Musik Express as a ride that travels a circular path – backwards and forwards, with dips – along with high-energy music that changes from ride to ride, and lighting to add to the experience, said Len Synor, a park spokesman.
The park’s Jack & the Beanstalk ride consists of a series of vertical drops. The current version debuted in 2004; the new version will be much the same experience but will also revolve.
Synor said both rides will be installed in time for opening day. Plans call for rearranging the layout of some rides to make room for the Rock ’n’ Roll Musik Express.
Fantasy Island will open May 9; the park at first will be open weekends only before shifting to its regular operating schedule during June. This will be the park’s 54th season.
As theme-park season draws closer, Darien Lake is also making upgrades. The Genesee County park has announced two new attractions this year: the Brain Drain ride for its water park, and the Rolling Thunder high-speed coaster for its main park. Those rides are also set to debut in May.
