Fire destroys a parked car

TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A car that had recently had its heating system worked on was destroyed in a fire early Sunday, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 2000 Chevrolet was parked in a lot behind the Strauss Road home of its owner when the fire was discovered just before 1:30 a.m., according to reports. Crews from the South Lockport Fire Company battled the fire.

The owner of the vehicle told investigators she had parked the car in the spot around 4 p.m. Saturday. She also said that she had recently had work performed on the vehicle. Investigators were uncertain whether there was any connection to the fire. No one was injured in the blaze.
