Wednesday, 7:30 P.M.: Just Buffalo Literary Café featuring poets Melissa Lussier, Rachel Robles Saeger, Alexis O’Donnell and Samantha Gonzalez. Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Road, Amherst.

Thursday, 12:30 P.M.: UB Poetics Program reading by and discussion with poet, performer and librettist Douglas Kearney, a graduate of Howard University, with an MFA from the California Institute for the Arts, and a 2002-03 fellow of the Cave Canem Foundation. He is author of the full-length collections “Fear, Some” (Red Hen Press, 2006), “The Black Automaton” (National Poetry Series Selection, Fence Books, 2009) and “Patter” (Red Hen Press, 2014). Saturday, 4:30 P.M.: Njozi Promotions presents the Youth Buffalo-Niagara International Poetry Slam, a regional event for young performers (ages 13 to 19) from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Southern Ontario, who will compete for $500 in cash prizes.
