AMBROSE - Alice Age 96, passed away January 29, 2015, after a brief illness at the Wells Hospice Beechwood Home. Alice was born on October 10, 1918 in Buffalo, NY. Her parents were Louis and Theresa Petrone. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Anthony "Chip" Ambrose; five sisters, Frances, Victoria, Helen, Florence and Josephine and one brother, John Petrone. She is survived by her daughter, Suellen (James) Henesey of Tonawanda; her son Anthony (Julie) Ambrose of Palm Harbor, Florida; her granddaughters, Jacqueline (John) Ligas of Mesa, Arizona and Jessica (Chris) Lexmond of Atlanta, Georgia; and one precious great-grandchild, John Anthony Ligas.
When she was young Alice and her brother John sang in the Verdi Opera Choral, but her first love was country music and dancing the "Texas two step". During WWII, Alice accompanied her husband Chip to Turner Field Air force base in Georgia where she worked and learned to drive jeeps.
Alice loved to socialize, and she was an accomplished cook. She enjoyed extraordinary health and bowled until she was 89. She was a member of several card clubs and loved the New York Yankees. A memorial Mass will be held on a future date. Her wishes were to have no prior visitation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Beechwood Home for their support in her final days.
