LITTLE VALLEY – A deputy smelled trouble after pulling over a vehicle for speeding on Route 219 in the Cattaraugus County Town of Ashford, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Anthony J. Simonian, 18, of Clarence, was pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday because he was traveling 75 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone, authorities said. While talking to Simonian, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana; a search of the car revealed a bag containing approximately a quarter-ounce of pot, authorities said.
Simonian was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation – his driver’s license had a previous suspension, unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding.
Authorities said a back-seat passenger, Kyle R. Bachman, 18, also of Clarence, also was arrested after a small amount of marijuana was found on his pants and a glass pipe containing marijuana in his possession.
Both were released on tickets to appear in court.
