Thaddeus W. Podolak, human resources executive

April 27, 1927 – Jan. 17, 2015

Thaddeus W. Podolak of East Aurora, a longtime human resources executive, died Jan. 17 at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after a brief illness. He was 87.

Born in Syracuse, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from St. Bernard’s Seminary in Rochester in 1947 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1950s.

Mr. Podolak worked in the human resources field for various companies throughout his career, including Worthington Corp. and Twin Fair. He retired as director of human resources from Cigna Corp. in 1990.

After retirement, he returned to work at St. Joseph Hospital, where he held the position of vice president. He retired from the hospital in 1995.

He served as a trustee for Christ the King Seminary.

A lifelong golfer, he was a former member and past president of East Aurora Country Club, and a member of Crag Burn Golf Club in East Aurora for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Marlea Zimmermann; and a sister, Mary Kesel.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 22 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elma.
