Two men charged with cocaine dealing in the Falls

LOCKPORT – Two Niagara Falls men pleaded not guilty Thursday in State Supreme Court to separate indictments charging them with making two cocaine sales each to police informants in that city in 2013.

Kevin M. King Jr., 22, of Lockport Street, is accused of drug deals March 22 and 29, 2013. Antwann D. Vassel, 25, of 24th Street, is charged with deals on Sept. 11 and 26, 2013.

Both men were indicted on two counts each of third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.

In another cocaine case Thursday, Duane J. Whalen, 56, of Main Street, Lockport, was approved for participation in Niagara County Veterans Court, and is scheduled to plead guilty there next week to third-degree sale.

Whalen, who sold cocaine in Lockport March 28 and 31, will be able to have his felony plea reduced to a misdemeanor with a nonjail sentence if he succeeds in drug treatment through the court for military veterans. Otherwise, he risks up to nine years in prison.
