Lockport School Board awards $6 million in construction contracts

LOCKPORT – The Lockport Board of Education awarded more than $6 million worth of construction contracts this week for the second phase of the wide-ranging construction package voters approved in 2013.

Deborah A. Coder, assistant superintendent for finance and management services, said most of the work involves the remodeling of kitchens in Anna Merritt, Charles Upson, George M. Southard and Roy B. Kelley elementary schools.

R.B. Mac Construction Co. of Lockport will be the general contractor, with a bid of more than $2.8 million. John W. Danforth of the Town of Tonawanda won the heating and ventilation portion of the work with a $1.97 million bid; Leo J. Roth Corp. of Webster is the plumbing contractor for $171,000; Weydman Electric of the City of Tonawanda received a $679,900 electrical contract; and Metro Contracting and Environmental of the Town of Niagara won a $518,300 contract for asbestos abatement.
