Four Cubans charged with credit card fraud

Four Cuban citizens were accused Thursday of using counterfeit credit and debit cards encoded with information from actual people.

Eduardo Hernandez Quinones, 46; Yasser Carrillo Chartrand, 23; Claudia Diaz, 21; and Yaily Santurio, 31, are charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell T. Ippolito Jr. said the defendants, who were all here legally, used the counterfeit cards to purchase merchandise at retail stores throughout the region.

The arrests are the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service and the New York State Police.
