STANISZEWSKI, Rev. Ignatius William, SSP

STANISZEWSKI - Rev. Ignatius William, SSP A Lackawanna, NY, on January 24, 2015, the the vigil of the Conversion of St. Paul, finished his race having
fought the good fight (2 Tim 4:7). He expired from advanced Parkinson's Disease at Select Specialty Care Hospital in Youngstown, OH. Raised in Lackawanna, Fr. Staniszewski entered the Society of St. Paul's minor seminary, Queen of Apostles in Derby, NY in 1952. He completed his novitiate and took his first vows in 1958 in Canfield, OH where he finished his courses in philosophy. In 1960 went to Rome to study theology and was ordained in Rome on June 10,1964. On his return from Rome he was assigned to teach at Queen of Apostles Seminary in Derby, NY and eventually became its Rector. He principaled the St Paul's High School of Communications Arts in Derby. In 1992 he was named the head of the Society of St. Paul's U.S. Province. He subsequently was named director of the Society's communities in Canfield, OH and Staten Island, NY. He was deeply involved with the Society's international media missions. He was preceded in death by his mother Teresa and his father William. He is survived by his brothers Edward and Joseph Staniszewski and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 7-9 PM Friday at Society of St. Paul, 9531 Akron-Canfield Rd., Canfield, OH 44406.
