BUFFALO PREP

Buffalo Prep, a University at Buffalo-sponsored program that offers accelerated classes, tutoring and mentoring to minority students from disadvantaged backgrounds, will hold an information session at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Public Library, Niagara Branch, 280 Porter Ave. For information, call 829-3605.

SCHOLARSHIPS

• Medaille College is holding the I WNY Room & Board Scholarship Essay Contest, which is open to high school seniors in Erie and Niagara counties. Students must submit an essay of at least 250 words explaining why they love Western New York and why continuing their education here is a priority. • The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program honors young volunteers who have made a positive impact in their communities. Nominations for youths ages 6 to 18 will be accepted until March 13 at www.kohlskids.com.

• Housing Opportunities Made Equal is accepting applications for the Joanne Champion Granger Scholarship, which is awarded each year to a college-bound high school senior in Erie or Niagara counties who demonstrates high academic achievement along with a commitment to volunteerism and human rights.
