New Era producing Marshawn Lynch’s hot-selling ‘Beast Mode’ caps

Marshawn Lynch didn’t want to make any statements during the Super Bowl media day Tuesday, but he did end up making a fashion statement.

The “Beast Mode” hat Lynch wore during his much-publicized, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” press conference has completely sold out – and fans are clamoring for more.

The hats were made exclusively by Buffalo’s New Era Cap Co. for sale on Lynch’s official website, The navy blue and lime green hat, which has the BeastMode “B” logo, retails for $33. The hat’s online description reads, “Yes, this is the hat Marshawn wore during the 2015 SB Media Day.”

Though the caps are sold out, New Era is busily making more to fulfill demand.

“I am not surprised about the popularity of the cap,” said Stuart Domanowski, Football Category Director at New Era. “Marshawn appears to have a passionate fan base that look for ways to show their support.”

Lynch may need that extra support if the National Football League decides to fine Lynch after all – for using media day to promote a brand that was not approved by the NFL.

New Era Cap Co. is the official supplier of all NFL hats, but BeastMode is Lynch’s personal brand. Lynch wore another BeastMode-branded New Era Cap in press conferences Wednesday. New Era Cap Co. owns several different major U.S. professional and college sports licenses, including Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association.

New Era, which is headquartered on Delaware Avenue, has 500 employees in Western New York between its Delaware Avenue headquarters and its Derby manufacturing plant. It has more than 2,000 employees worldwide in 17 offices around the globe.
