Military-grade ammunition removed from a storage unit

TOWN OF PORTER –The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Erie County Sheriff bomb squad unit, were called in on Tuesday to remove a large military ordnance from a storage locker unit on Blairville Road.

A Town of Niagara man transported the unspecified ammunition to the Lewiston No. 2 Fire Hall, 1702 Saunders Settlement Road, where it was placed outside the fire hall at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad met with the Niagara County sheriff’s deputies and took possession of the ammunition.
