Falls man accused of inflating losses in an insurance claim

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man was accused of fraudulently inflating his losses to over $32,000, on a burglary claim to a Lockport insurance company.

Kevin B. Ashby, 40, of South Avenue, was arrested by New York State Police and the New York State Department of Financial Services on Monday and charged with third-degree insurance fraud, third-degree attempted grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records. He was arraigned in the Town of Lockport Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail on $5,000 bail.

The New York State Department of Financial Services was contacted by a City of Lockport based insurance company which suspected Ashby was making a fraudulent claim in connection with a burglary he had reported to the Niagara Falls Police Department.
