World of Beer, a Florida-headquartered bar franchise, will open at Walden Galleria this summer.
The “tavern” as it calls itself, will be located on the southeast side of the mall in the former Ruby Tuesday, facing Walden Avenue and the Millennium Hotel. There will be 500 varieties of local and national craft beers available by the bottle, as well as more than 50 beers on tap. The restaurant will purchase draught beer in small, one- or two-keg quantities in order to rotate its selection more quickly. The 4,500-square-foot bar and restaurant will feature live music, televised sports and a 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio.
Instead of a full dinner menu, World of Beer has a range of “tavern-style” food, including appetizers, chicken wings and burgers. It will host craft beer education classes, beer and food pairings, and a Sunday brunch referred to as BEERunch.
Williamsville-based franchisee Bryan Clark, under the name Tavern Brews, LLC, has plans to open additional locations in the Buffalo Niagara region, as well as in Rochester and Erie, Pa. He is hoping to have locations open in Rochester and Erie by the end of the year.
Clark decided to pursue the franchise after visiting one in Florida.
“I was just wowed,” he said. “As a beer lover, it was like being in beer heaven.”
The Galleria location will be Western New York’s first, though World of Beer Franchising has two locations, in Albany and Syracuse. Founded in 2007, it has 65 locations in 20 states.
