Teen gets 15 years for fatal Riverside stabbing

A West Side man was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for fatally stabbing another man during an argument in the city’s Riverside neighborhood.

State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski imposed the minimum prison term on Angel Lozada, 19, of Hudson Street.

Lozada had been indicted on a charge of second-degree murder but pleaded guilty Dec. 1 to a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter in the Feb. 23, 2013, slaying of Roberto Leon, 20, of Ontario Street.

Leon was stabbed once in the chest on Tonawanda Street but managed to get to a nearby apartment where he collapsed, police said.

Prosecutors said Leon’s family had agree to the plea.
