Melting Point expanding on Allen Street

Melting Point, the grilled cheese specialist at 244 Allen St., is knocking out a wall to add more seats and bathroom access.

“Currently I have seven seats, so we’re looking to add seating, as well as access to the bathrooms in the building,” said Matt Yuhnke, who owns the place with Mike Kifner. “We’re making it a bit more inviting experience for people.”

Melting Point opened last March in the former Lagniappes space, which is about as large as a minivan, but doesn’t seat as many people. When work is done, capacity will have expanded to 15 to 20 seats, Yuhnke said.

“It’s too often I see people turning away because there’s no place to sit, and take their business elsewhere,” he said.
