During Bach’s lifetime, his music often was performed at taverns and coffeehouses. Happily, it seems as if those days are back. A trio of classical musicians is playing a wide variety of Bach at 8 p.m. Thursday in Pausa Art House (19 Wadsworth St.). The musicians are Michael McNeill on piano and organ, Megan Kyle on oboe and Katie Weissman on cello.
“The Bach Project,” as they call their program, includes music from five cantatas as well as some Two-Part Inventions and the Prelude and Fugue in E from Book 1 of the “Well-Tempered Clavier.”
Balanced with the Bach are four contemporary pieces: Salvatore Sciarrino’s “Melencolia 1”; Schoenberg’s “Six Little Piano Pieces,” Op. 19; Giacinto Scelsi’s “Ixor,” and Arvo Pärt’s “Mozart-Adagio.”
Admission is $7, or $5 for students. For information, call 697-9069.
