Organizers have announced plans for the Second Annual Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival May 3 to 9, along with several other events and fundraisers, including a $5,000 campaign to add 100 cherry trees to the Japanese Garden of Buffalo behind the Buffalo History Museum.
Donations for the trees can be made online via Indiegogo through March 4. Those who give the suggested donation of $10 will receive a commemorative button for the 2015 festival.
The festival committee will hold a Mid-Winter Blossom Celebration Benefit from 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 8 in Martin Cooks, 346 Connecticut St., when the full slate of festival events will be presented. Tickets are $25 advance, $30 at the door.
The festival’s major fundraiser, the Cherry Blossom Ball, will be held April 2 in the Buffalo History Museum, Elmwood Avenue at Nottingham Court. For more information and reservations, call 445-4446 or visit www.cherryblossomfestival.org.
