Winter patrols for the Erie County Sheriff’s Office have gone off road to snowmobile trails, where 27 tickets were issued over the weekend to sled drivers.
Deputies Timothy Dusza and Timothy Coulombe issued the tickets while patrolling in Boston, Colden, Elma, Holland and North Collins. The violations ranged from loud mufflers to trespassing to unregistered and uninsured machines, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The deputies also conducted speed enforcement on numerous trails. The Snowmobile Unit, which patrols portions of the nearly 400 miles of designated trails in the county, will be out through April 1 – weather and trail conditions permitting.
