Sex offender who didn’t register goes to prison

LOCKPORT – A City of Tonawanda sex offender who has twice failed to register his home address, as required by state law, was sentenced to two to four years in prison Monday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon.

Robert J. Miller Jr., 35, whose last known address was on Fillmore Avenue, was living on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda last year, but he failed to tell police that.

Miller, a Level 1 offender, also had pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal contempt for violating a North Tonawanda woman’s order of protection against him March 7.

“I was homeless. I had a substance abuse problem,” Miller said. “I’m really not a bad person.”
