Niagara Falls home condemned after morning fire

NIAGARA FALLS – An electrical fire caused about $10,000 in damages at a home at 528 Sixth St. on Monday morning, the Niagara Falls Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to the 2½-story structure between Walnut and Ferry avenues at 11:05 a.m. The fire was determined to be under control about an hour later and the building has been condemned.

The fire started in a first-floor bathroom wall, said Fire Prevention Chief Daniel Ciszek.

There was an occupant inside the home at the time the fire began, though the person may have been squatting at the property, Ciszek said. No injuries were reported.
