Ontario Avenue man robbed in Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A neighborhood man was jumped and robbed Saturday night as he left a corner store at 18th Street and Niagara Avenue, police reported.

The 46-year-old Ontario Avenue resident told police he was walking out of the store around 8:30 p.m. when four men, who had been hiding near a fence around the corner from the store, confronted him. He was hit in the back of the head and knocked to the ground, where he was then robbed of his wallet. It contained $10 in cash and a debit and benefits card.

The four men fled following the attack. Investigators are checking to see whether the incident may have been captured on store surveillance video. The victim was stunned but apparently not seriously injured.
