Where we live: Town of Tonawanda

Town of Tonawanda

A community update on pollution prevention projects will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 in St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, 2368 Eggert Road.

Representatives from the state department of environmental conservation and the Pollution Prevention Institute will share information on pollution prevention projects in the town.

The town has the highest concentration of major air pollution sources in the state, according to the Clean Air Coalition, which is organizing Wednesday’s update. Residents are welcome to give feedback and share thoughts for potential future projects.

“Pollution prevention is one way to reduce emissions into our community,” the group said in a news release. “It means eliminating toxic chemicals at the source, instead capturing emissions at the end of a process.”

This week:

• The Town Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 4 in the second-floor conference room.
