Fifth graders from the Eggert Elementary School and the Ellicott Elementary School held their D.A.R.E. class graduation ceremonies at their schools last week, with one remaining ceremony to be held at Nativity of Our Lord 5th graders will have their graduation ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, the Orchard Park Police Department announced.
Police Officers Brian Lukowski and Kristen Mazur teach all the classes in the program run by Police Lt. Patrick Fitzgerald. All the students completed a 13-week program dealing with how to resist drugs and violence. Town and county officials have been invited to speed at all the graduation ceremonies.
The High School technology and math departments garnered third place in the Tech Wars at Niagara County Community College recently. The district placed third overall as an outstanding technology department out of 20 school districts.
The group of students, known as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, received second place in the cardboard boat contest. They also placed first, second and third in the photography contest; and first in the video contest.
Students also competed in the bridge and T-shirt design contest.
Town Supervisor Patrick Keem will speak at the Orchard Park Library for the Friends of the Library’s “4th Tuesday Speaker Series” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 4570 South Buffalo St.
