Where we live: Hamburg

Hamburg

The winter break next month will be a little shorter for students at Frontier Central School District because of all the snow days the district has had this year.

The academic calendar has been adjusted to reclaim two staff development days and the last day of the February break as student attendance days.

School will be in session and students should report this Friday , Feb. 20 and March 20.

If there are more snow days this year, additional days would be taken from the winter and spring breaks.

Hamburg residents who would like to learn more about the town Police Department can attend a Citizens Police Academy starting in February. The eight-week academy will cover operations, functions and services provided by the police department. Classes will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, and attendees must be 18 and pass a criminal background check.

Those who are interested should contact Officer Scott Fraser at 648-5111, Ext. 2232, or at sfraser@thpdny.org. The class has filled quickly in the past.

The Character Council of Western New York is signing up schools, clubs and groups to create a booth for the Character Carnival March 14. The booths provide an interactive experience for visitors to play, have fun and learn about how good character fits into daily lives. To apply for a booth, contact Suzanne Bracci at sbracci123@gmail.com.
