Shooting case results in shutdown of Impulse nightclub

A man was shot early Saturday near Ellicott and Huron streets following a fight in the nearby Impulse nightclub, 500-block of Washington Street, Buffalo police said.

Late Saturday, Mayor Byron W. Brown ordered the immediate shutdown of Impulse and a cease and desist order was issued.

The victim, JaQuan Smith, 23, was treated in Erie County Medical Center, then released, said police, who noted that the shooting occurred shortly after the nightclub fight, about 2 a.m.

Recently, the city has shut down nightspots on Forest and Elmwood avenues following shooting cases.
