Loss placed at $2,100 in theft, recovery of car

NEWFANE – A car stolen from a Wallace Avenue yard early Friday was later found abandoned on Murphy Road, with about $2,100 worth of valuables missing, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said.

The owner of the 1997 Honda told deputies that it was taken between midnight and 4 p.m. and the the keys had likely been left inside the vehicle. Deputies said they recovered the car in the 3600 block of Murphy Road, where a neighbor reported it had been parked since about 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The car was not damaged but the stereo unit had been stolen from the dashboard and a set of golf clubs was missing from the trunk.
