JUDAS, Nancy (Braatz)
JUDAS - Nancy (nee Braatz) Passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2015 leaving behind stunned and grieving family and friends. Nancy was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She grew up strongly connected to a large extended family, especially "the McCoy girls" who were more like sisters than cousins. After graduating from Bryant & Stratton College in 1979, Nancy pointed her orange Datsun westward and moved to California. Nancy's romance with Mike Judas began when they met at a party and led to a wedding in beautiful Yosemite Valley 21 years ago. Nancy started her professional career at Western Contract, and then moved on to Space Designs/Pivot Interiors, initially serving as Director of Design and then as Vice President and Partner. Following her tenure at Pivot, Nancy spent three years at Knoll and was currently working in Business Development at Allsteel where she built a client portfolio that included many of Silicon Valley's most successful tech companies. Nancy was a force of nature. She expressed herself with absolute certainty and often with great humor. Her wonderful and distinctive laugh and Upstate accent only added to her larger-than-life persona. She loved to travel and to entertain, thoroughly enjoying good company, good food and great wine. She was also extremely generous and excelled at making new acquaintances feel welcome and at ease. Her strong design aesthetic is reflected throughout her home and garden where she loved to spend time with friends and family. Nancy was incredibly organized, hard working and successful but despite all her accomplishments, her greatest source of pride and joy were her children. Nancy is survived by her beloved family, husband Michael Judas, son Josef and daughter Liesel; her surviving Braatz relations, brother Mark/Skip (Mimi), niece Lauren Stark (Ryan), nephew Mark (Kat) and great-nephew and niece Max and Pearl Stark; her surviving Judas relations, parents-in-law Franz and Gerda Judas, sister-in law Christine (Jim) and brother-in-law Andreas (Jen), nieces and nephews
Casey and Gabrielle Brandt and Samuel and Sarah Judas; numerous relations and countless friends and colleagues also mourn her passing. Her parents, Darrell (Smiley) and Pearl Braatz, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Archbishop Mitty HS Scholarship fund in memory of Nancy Braatz Judas.
