RYSKALCYK - Josephine Age 87 years, passed away peacefully and suddenly on Hospice Sunday, January 18th, 2015 in her daughters's home in sunny California. She was surrounded by family, young friends, and her favorite Husky dog, KYRA. Joy spent some of her happiest four years with her one daughter, Debbie Mapes, and son Ron Ryskalczyk, and two adult grandchildren Bobby and Lauren. She had many nicknames: Joy; Mrs. R; Josie; etc. which described her versatile personality and many not knowning her as well as others. A life long resident of North Tonawanda, Josephine was born February 11, 1927 to Anthony and Mary Hamera. Josephine's had one sister Florence who unfortunately passed away at a very young age. Josephine graduated from North Tonawanda High School and married Stanley Ryskalczyk owner and establishment of Hein Sales & Distributing Co. on 12th Ave. for almost 45 years 45 years. Joy was a member of many organizations and charity functions including the Stephen Sikora Post, OLC, womens clubs, Tonawanda Bowling Association etc.
Josephine was a "snowbird" for the winter duration in Scottsdale, AZ. where she continued her charity work with the Catholic parishes. Joy had a heart of Gold, understanding and positive encouragement with many life experiences to share. She had a sparkle in her eyes and smile as bright as the sun and always full of hugs and kisses. She was forever a forgiving person and socialized with people of all ages young and old. A sense of humor, funny, and witty were a great attribute that we could all enjoy. This you could see through her enjoyment of life through Nature. Josephine is survived by her four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A generation has gone, but Josephine will be remembered by all that she touched with her gentle heart and soul. There will be no calling hours. Rev. Gary Szczepankiewicz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church, 626 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. Family and friends please assemble at church. An entombment service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flowers are graciously declined. Memorial gifts may be made in Joy's memory to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church Renovation Fund, 57 Center Avenue, North Tonawanda, New York 14120.
