David Anthony D’Angelis of North Tonawanda died Wednesday at Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. He was 18.
Born in Buffalo, he was a student at Orleans Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Medina. Prior to that, he attended middle school at Orleans Niagara BOCES in North Tonawanda.
For more than 10 years, David played baseball in the Challenged Athletes Participating in Sports Association.
He also enjoyed bowling and swimming. CAPS is a nonprofit organization that provides athletic opportunities to people with disabilities in Western New York.
David cherished his countless trips to Home Depot with his grandparents and camping trips with his family. He also loved to bake, especially pineapple upside-down cakes.
His aunt and uncle, Diana and Lawrence Vilardo, were his longtime caregivers. His mother, the former Amy Lee Bernadette Toarmino, died in June 2010.
He is survived by his father, Joseph A.; a sister, Lauren Rick; and grandparents, Leo and Ruth Toarmino and Paul and Nancy D’Angelis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent De Paul at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls.
