Student charged with menacing teacher at Starpoint

PENDLETON – A student was walked out of Starpoint High School and placed under arrest on Thursday, accused of menacing his teacher.

Nicholas T. Brown, 17, of Willow Creek Lane, Sanborn, was arrested by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies just after noon at the school on Mapleton Road.

His math teacher said Brown became disruptive in class and she attempted to write a pass to send him to the office. According to the female teacher Brown screamed no, got up from his desk, and advanced on her aggressively with his hands up. He took the pass before she could finish writing it and got extremely close to her. The teacher said when she tried to call for help he backed her into the corner and she was afraid she was going to be assaulted. She said she put her hands up to protect herself and then told him she wouldn’t send him to the office to get him to back down.

After class, the teacher reported the incident and Brown was taken into custody. Bail was set at $100 in Pendleton Town Court.

A return court date was set for Wednesday.
