The Pride Center of Western New York has created a new program to help lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people with alcohol and drug problems.
Recovery With Pride will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Pride Center office, 200 S. Elmwood Ave.
The group will be led by Ronald Piaseczny, who has extensive experience working with people who have substance use issues. Meetings will be on the third Thursday of each month.
Such people “have an increased rink of drug and alcohol use,” says Matthew Crehan Higgins, Pride Center senior director. “At Recovery With Pride, we offer safe space for members of our community ... to freely discuss their experience in an environment that provides affirmation and support.”
