A Buffalo gang member who served more than six years for a homicide was arrested at his Buffalo home on a weapons charge last week, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
Casidus Carr, 29, was taken into custody last Friday, when members of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Dunlop Avenue. Carr was in possession of a loaded firearm, a spokesman said.
Carr was released from Bare Hill Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in Franklin County, in 2013, after serving almost seven years for manslaughter, according to public records.
The arrest is the result of a collaboration by the Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office, FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Buffalo police to quell recent violence in the city.
Carr was charged under federal law with a felony count of possession of a firearm. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted.
