UB students offer free tax prep for those earning up to $53,000

Free tax preparation is available for individuals and families with annual incomes below $53,000, from the UB Beta Alpha Psi chapter with help from the UB Accounting Association.

IRS-certified accounting students from the University at Buffalo School of Management will be available at UB’s South Campus, 100 Allen Hall; Downtown Campus, 77 Goodell St. and North Campus, 106 Jacobs Management Center.

The services is available on a first-come, first served basis from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following days:

• Feb. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 and 28, and March 1 on South Campus.

• March 7 and 8 at the Downtown Campus.

• March 28 and 29, and April 4, 5, 11 and 12 on North Campus.

Participants should proof of identification, a social security card, dates of birth for everyone included in the filing, wage and earnings statements from all employers (W-2 and 1099 forms), interest and dividend statements (form 1099), Affordable Health Care Act Statements (1095-A, B or C), and child care provider’s tax ID or Social Security number, as well as the total paid for child care services.

• Last year’s federal and state tax returns, if possible.

For those intending to have refunds deposited directly into their accounts, bring bank routing and account numbers. Both spouses in a married couple filing jointly must be present.
