The United Way is looking for volunteers to help prepare taxes for low-income families.
As part of its Creating Assets, Savings & Hope Buffalo program, the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County will provide free training to certify volunteers in IRS tax preparation. Volunteers have to pass a certification exam before preparing returns through the program.
Training sessions are ongoing through Jan. 17. To register as a volunteer or find more information, call 362-0744 extension 220, e-mail email@example.com or visit www.volunteerwny.org and search “free tax prep.”
Last year, CASH Buffalo prepared more than 10,250 returns, recouping $16.4 million for families in need.
