Red Cross finding housing for more than two dozen seniors

More than two dozen senior citizens living in the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority’s L.B.Johnson Apartments at 167 Humboldt Parkway were being assisted Wednesday night by the American Red Cross because of a water pipe that burst and sent water through the walls of the complex late in the afternoon.

The pipe problem was reported about 4:30 p.m. Officials said it began in a a fifth floor apartment but pipes then began bursting throughout the building. No injuries were reported but residents complained that much of their furniture and personal belongings were destroyed by the gushing water.
