JASEN, Cecilia M. (Pykosz)

JASEN - Cecilia M. (nee Pykosz) Age 87, of Amherst, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Kozubal) Pykosz. Cecilia was a business teacher for 25 years at Greece Olympia High School. She was a member of the FBLA, the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Niagara Falls, NY, where she sang in the choir; also a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Rochester, NY, along with their ladies group and the Holy Name of Mary society. Cecilia was devoted to the Divine Mercy, which she prayed everyday, and she was also very proud of her Polish heritage and culture, regularly celebrating Polish traditions and customs, along with polka dancing. She is survived by three sons, Christopher (Mari Anne) Jasen of Amherst, NY, Michael and Paul Jasen, both of Spencer Port, NY and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Anne "Beth Anne" and Rebecca Anne "Becky". She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edward Jasen on August 22, 2001; brothers, John and Edwin Pykosz and sisters, Dorothy Synor and Eleanor Dera. ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, corner of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where prayer services will begin at 8:30 AM on Saturday, January 3, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Burial in St. John Cemetery, Spencer Port, NY will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of St. Stanislaus Foundation, 1325 Hudson Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14621.
