California couple arrested for drugs Sunday still in custody in Mayville

MAYVILLE - The California man and woman arrested on drug charges after State Police flagged down their allegedly speeding tractor-trailer Sunday in the Town of North Harmony remained in custody Wednesday at the Chautauqua County Jail here, jail officials said.

Peter L. Spray, 42, and Brandis M. Hay, 32, both of Lindsay, Calif. were remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 bail each after their initial arraignments in the Sherman Town Court.

After troopers and State Police K-9 “Kubi” allegedly found a number of narcotic pills, marijuana and hashish in their rig, both were charged with five counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana. Spray was also charged with speeding, failing to have a log book in his rig, and failing to have a highway use tax sticker on his rig.
