Tonawanda woman charged with benefits fraud

A federal grand jury has indicted a Tonawanda woman on charges of fraudulently receiving federal benefits.

Tracy Anderson, 43, is accused of knowingly making a false document and unlawfully receiving supplemental security income.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen Jr. said Anderson received federal benefits on behalf of her son even though the child was not living with her at the time.

Her indictment is the result of an investigation by the Office of the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration.
