St. Bonaventure Lateran Center director to be ordained as priest

OLEAN – Brother Ross Chamberland, OFM, executive director of the newly-established Lateran Center at St. Bonaventure University, will be ordained a priest during an 11 a.m. Mass Saturday in St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, Mass.

Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley, OFM Cap., will lead the Rite of Presbyteral Ordination. Chamberland, a native of Nashua, N.H., professed his final vows as a Franciscan friar in August.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in social justice and urban life from Emmanuel College in Boston, a master’s degree from the Washington Theological Union, and pontifical graduate degree from the Catholic University of America.

He has been a project director for inner-city Catholic youth in Boston, Mass., has worked as liturgical coordinator, catechist and group facilitator for AIDS/HIV patients at several Franciscan parishes, and was a justice of the peace in New Hampshire. He is pursuing doctoral studies at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.
