WHEATFIELD – A subcontractor doing work for National Grid had close to $13,000 worth of property stolen from a storage trailer parked in a fenced in area of the east lot of the Summit Park Mall over the holiday weekend.
The general foreman for Three Phase Line Construction told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that sometime between last Tuesday and Monday someone cut a padlock off of a storage container and a trailer and took electrical cords, cable cutters, a generator, bolt cutters, tow straps, and $10,000 worth of copper grounds.
Parts of the security fence had blown down in the wind storm, but a portion of the fence was also cut, according to the foreman.
Frey Electric, also working as a subcontractor for National Grid at Ledge Creek Development in Cambria, had padlocks cut, one on a security fence and two on a container, sometime between Friday and Monday. The container on Shawnee Road had thousands of dollars worth of tools and electrical supplies, but nothing was stolen, according to a Niagara County sheriff report.
