Jamestown motorist, 83, experienced medical issue before crash

JAMESTOWN — An 83-year-old motorist was pronounced dead Monday after he apparently experienced a medical issue and crashed into a Jamestown funeral home, authorities said.

The man was driving west on W. Third St. just after 10:30 a.m. when his pickup truck collided with a vehicle eastbound on W. Third, east of Hall Ave., Jamestown police reported. The man’s pickup continued on and crashed into the north side of the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to WCA Hospital where he was pronounced dead apparently as a result of the medical issue, not injuries suffered in the crash, police said. Three people inside the funeral home — a 47-year-old male, 72-year-old male and 70-year-old female — were also taken to WCA for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

Jamestown police are being assisted in the investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
