State police who stopped a tractor trailer for speeding Sunday afternoon on the Southern Tier Expressway charged its driver and passenger with possessing marijuana and methamphetamine.
The tractor trailer was pulled over in the Town of North Harmony about 3:30 p.m. for travelling 79 mph in a 65 zone, police said. Troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana and an investigation revealed eight grams of pot and a small amount of meth, police said.
The driver, Peter L. Spray, 42, and his passenger, Brandis M. Hay, 32, were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Spray was also ticketed for speeding and log book violations.
They were arraigned in Town of North Harmony Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
