Coming attractions

• After a four-day holiday break, Federation boys hockey takes to the ice as rivals St. Joe’s and Canisius meet for the first time this season on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Northtown Center at Amherst. Northtown will host three additional games on Saturday with Williamsville East meeting West Seneca East at 1 p.m., Clarence taking on neighboring Lancaster at 3 p.m. and Amherst and North Tonawanda dropping the puck at 3:30 p.m.

• In a Federation girls hockey game, Amherst/Sweet Home plays Williamsville on Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Northtown.

• In wrestling, the 34th annual Niagara Frontier Officials Tournament is Friday and Saturday at Niagara CCC. The 22nd Ripley Tournament is also on Saturday.

• Fredonia State will host a pair of indoor track meets on Saturday. There will be a Division B-D-E from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a Division A-C-F meet from 2-6 p.m.

• The Sacred Heart basketball team hosts Mount Mercy on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The Sharks are the No. 1-ranked large school in the first Buffalo News poll. Mercy is ranked No. 7.

Bulletin board

The 12th Starpoint Sports Wall of Fame induction is Jan. 30 and will induct two former student-athletes and a former coach. The Class includes John Hey (1966), David Parry (1995) and coach Barbara Kreuzer. A reception for the inductees and their guests will be in the high school cafeteria prior to the event. The ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m. between the boys JV and varsity basketball games against Sweet Home. For more information call 210-2304.
