Robert A. Ferrari, of Getzville, a retired private investigator and insurance adjuster, died Sept. 15 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a short illness. He was 69.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Williamsville High School and served in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of corporal.
Returning from service, he worked as a letter carrier in Williamsville for the U.S. Postal Service, then joined Retail Credit Corp., working in Buffalo and Chicago and advancing to manager.
In 1980, he established his own investigation firm, Robert A. Ferrari Inc. His cases took him all over the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
His business and his use of high-tech equipment were featured in an article in Forbes magazine. He was recognized for his integrity and expert court testimony. He retired in 2010. Mr. Ferrari was a member of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Claims Association, the Syracuse Claims Association, the Life and Health Claims Association, the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Canadian Automobile Theft Bureau, the Niagara District Claims Adjusters Association and the Insurance Club of Buffalo. He also was a notary public.
Survivors include two brothers, S. Jay and Paul E.; and a sister, Elisa Ferrari McArthur.
Services with military honors were held Nov. 7 in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
