Town of Lockport Walmart cashier suspected of stealing $1,000 in merchandise

TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A cashier at the Walmart on South Transit Road is accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise over eight days before Christmas.

Stacey A. Culverwell, 33, of Elmwood Street, scanned items at her register then voided the purchases between Dec. 16 and 24, Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said. Fired and arrested Saturday, Culverwell was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, deputies said.

The suspect also is accused of selling $502 worth of merchandise to an unnamed customer who was charged only only $5.17, deputies added.
