Dec. 24, 1969: News hopes the '70s will 'uplift' the soul

While the editorial staff of The Buffalo Evening News was not very happy with the decade that was ending 45 years ago, they were ready to offer a very religious take on Christmas and what the holiday can mean for those celebrating it.

"Christmas hope for the '70s"

"And so you don’t have to accept the world as it is to celebrate Christmas. Amid the darkness, there is light. A flower can grow in a bomb crater. Jesus was born in a stable and can bring light and hope today in a slum. God bless us every one!"
