Astronics Corp. is buying an industry competitor to capture more market share and boost revenues.
The East Aurora-based provider of in-flight entertainment and other technology for the aerospace and defense industries said Wednesday that it would acquire Armstrong Aerospace for $51 million.
The Itasca, Ill.-based Armstrong also provides engineering, design and certification solutions for commercial aircraft, particularly in-flight entertainment, connectivity and electrical power systems. With sales of about $27 million expected for this year, the acquisition will boost Astronics’ own revenues for 2015 to $680 million to $725 million.
The deal is expected to close in January.
