"Homeland" finale disappoints; Cocker's wonderful "Wonder Years" open

This is what I’m thinking:

I give “Homeland” all that praise for its recovery from a slow early season start and then the Showtime series rewards viewers with a clunker of a fourth season finale.

I won’t reveal any details to give some time for those fans who watch later in the week to see the finale.

Let’s just say I was a little bored of the personal stories that slowed things down and kept on waiting for something – anything – to happen.

I ended up being as disillusioned as Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) when I realized the finale was just setting up things for next season. The finale might as well have ended with a To Be Continued tagline.

When I think of Joe Cocker, I think of one of my all-time favorite TV series, “The Wonder Years.” Some people who buy the DVD set of all seasons may fast forward through the opening in which Cocker sings a portion of The Beatles tune,  “A Little Help From My Friends." I listen to it before every episode as scenes of Kevin Arnold, his friends and his family play out. It is one of the best openings in TV history.

The demographic results are in for the November sweeps and once again Channel 2 is the big winner.

I won’t bore you with too many numbers, but can tell you the only place that it doesn’t dominant in the age 18-49 and age 25-54 when all three stations compete is at 11 p.m. Channel 4’s household margin at 11 p.m. had narrowed in November but interestingly its lead in the age 18-49 and age 25-54 demographics increased.

Inquiring minds want to know what ever happened to the report here that former Channel 7 anchor John Borsa was going to Channel 2? Good question. Borsa had told friends he was joining Channel 2 but the station never officially announced he was coming. It’s been weeks since the report, which suggests it is unclear if it is ever going to happen.
